Youth Caucus of CA members formed
Alliance for Peace organised a discussion programme on 'Trans-partisan
Youth Caucus of the Constituent Assembly Members' attended by youth
Constituent Assembly members of various political parties, UNDP Resident
Representative Robert Piper and UNFPA Representative Ugochi Daniels.
The youth CA members later formed a group for mapping common youth issues
to be presented in CA. Youth Caucus is a group within the Constituent
Assembly that involves young members from different parties joining
together with the aim of promoting youth rights through legislative
processes.
During the discussion, UNDP representative Piper discussed on some of the
challenges and threats to peace process while UNFPA representative Daniels
stressed to ensure and include the youth rights, young women's rights, in
particular, to the new constitution, according to the Alliance for Peace.
During the programme, the participants also discussed long-term structure
of the Youth Caucus and strategic approach for the future. The Youth
Caucus will be supported in its work by a "Youth Leadership Academy" to be
formed by the Alliance for Peace.
The participants strongly stated the youth of the nation should be engaged
constructively in the constitution making process by ensuring their
representation in the sub- committees which will be formed in CA. nepalnews.com dr Sep 05 08
