"We have a nationwide network of our cadres and we will move ahead by correcting the mistake we made during the election to Constituent Assembly to achieve this goal [of being the largest party]," he said at a discussion programme on Saturday organised by Ilam-Kathmandu Contact Forum of UML.
Referring to the Maoists, Khanal said, "A party that has become biggest in a form of cyclone is saying that the UML will be finished over time." "But, we have all prerequisites to become the largest party in the next election."
Arguing that the present government is a consensus government, Khanal said the Nepali Congress (NC) could not participate in the government as the NC was not ready to accept the Maoists' in the lead.
He also assured that he would not discriminate against the UML leaders and cadres on the basis of personal loyalty towards him. nepalnews.com ps Sept 6 08
