Police nab five men accused of carrying out blast at VP Jha's residence

Police have arrested five persons in connection with a bomb blast at Vice President Parmananda Jha's residence in Gaurighat, Kathmandu, last month.

The five suspects arrested from different parts of Kathmandu are: Tek Raj Magar, Shiv Bahadur Karki, Mohan Karki, Som Bahadur Rai and Prabin Dura. Presenting them before media on Sunday, police officials said they had detonated a plastic grenade in the compound of the Vice President's residence on August 17, injuring a security guard.

Police said three others - Tara Sunuwar, Saroj Tamang and Dinesh Choudhary - who were linked to the blast are at large and that search for them is continuing.

The blast had taken place in the wake of a huge controversy after Jha took oath of office in Hindi language.

A previously unknown outfit called Rastriya Mukti Sena (national liberation army) had claimed responsibility for the explosion. nepalnews.com mk Sept 07 08
