UML to strengthen Youth Force
Despite controversies surrounding its formation and functioning, the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) has decided to strengthen and expand the activities of its youth wing Youth Force (YF).
Even as critics have lambasted the UML for creating what they call as 'copycat organisation' following the footsteps of Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL), the central committee meeting of the party, Sunday, positively evaluated its performance.
The CC members concluded that owing to the activities of YF, there has been a remarkable reduction in the YCL's tendency of working outside the law.
The meeting also formed a team headed by Gokarna Bista to recommend about the organisation structure and mandate of YF.
The YF was formed as a separate department of UML youth wing Democratic National Youth Federation (DNYF) following the election of Constituent Assembly.
Since its creation, it has been engaged in clashes with YCL cadres in many places including Kathmandu, Pokhara and most recently in Dhankuta. nepalnews.com sd Sep 08 08
