Home and Finance Ministries assure regular allocation of funds for Jatras
In response to protests by people in Kathmandu against what they
called as non-allocation of budget on Jatras (religious and cultural
festivals), the Home Minister has said that the government will
continue to bear responsibilities for such funds.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Home
Minister Bamdev Gautam said that government has high respect for
traditional festivals like Indra Jatra and Kumari Jatra of Kathmandu.
Likewise, Ministry of Finance, too, has expressed sadness over the
protests and has said that it has no intention of obstructing any
Jatras.
The Ministry has said that irrespective of what was understood from
its earlier circular, the Ministry is ready to play its part in the
holding of traditional Jatras.
It has said that it has asked the Culture and State Restructuring
Ministry to give continuity to the traditions. nepalnews.com sd Sep 21
