Indian Embassy sets up camp office in Biratnagar
The camp office of the Indian Embassy in Biratngar, which has been
established for facilitating movement of goods and vehicles to India and
from the eastern region to central and western regions, came into
operation from Tuesday.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Upendra Yadav, inaugurated the office amid a
ceremony today. The camp office has temporarily been located in the
building housing Morang Chamber of Industries at Shahid Marg, Biratnagar.
According to the Indian Embassy, the office has been established in
response to an 'urgent request' by the Government of Nepal, reiterated
during the recent visit of the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to India,
to address the difficulties being faced by Nepalis in obtaining necessary
permits after the Koshi floods damaged the East-West highway.
A joint press statement issued at the end of the PM Dahal's visit to India
stated that the camp office would be operated to facilitate movement of
vehicular traffic through India for improved access to other parts of
Nepal. nepalnews.com mk Sept 23 08
