NA-PLA merger not acceptable: MJF leader
A senior leader of ruling Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) has warned that
the party may take "unpleasant decision" if the CPN (Maoist) initiates
merger between the Nepal Army and the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
Speaking at the Reporters Club Thursday, Sarat Singh Bhandari cautioned
against the proposed integration of politically indoctrinated group into
the national army, which he said would politicise the defense force. Such
a merge, he said, will not be acceptable.
Speaking at the same programme, standing committee member of the CPN (UML)
Ishwor Pokhrel urged all parties to end their partisan differences and get
together for drafting a new constitution.
He said there is no alternative to unity among all big and small parties
in the parliament for writing a democratic constitution.
Central committee member of Nepali Congress Sujata Koirala claimed that
current government would not complete its tenure due to increasing unruly
behaviour of the Maoist cadres.
Stating that her party will not work to topple the Maoist-led government,
Sujata said Maoists have not stopped threats, intimidation and looting
even after leading the government. nepalnews.com ia Sep 25 08
