Terai rebels reject leadership of Goit, Jwala Singh

As the armed conflict in Terai districts becomes heterogeneous, rebellions splitting and re-splitting into smaller groups – some into criminal gangs, the gun bearers of the southern belt have at length discussed at finding alternatives to Jay Krishna Goith and Jwala Singh.

About 14 armed groups operating in Terai districts have held their joint meeting in India to forge working unity but failed to pick the two leaders as their supreme leader.

Goit, who was also present at the meeting held in Bihar on Saturday, walked out of the hall after the chiefs of nine other rebel groups refused to accept him as the undisputed leader.

However, Jwala Singh, who split Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha led by Goit and form his own, was not present at the meeting.

Some members of the Akhil Terai Mukti Morcha (ATMM), led by Goit, also supported the voices not to pick Goit and Jwala Singh as their chief.

JTMM has split into number of armed groups. Recently, some ATMM members announced the suspension of their chief Goit, not sparing him even ordinary membership, replacing him by Ram Bilas Yadav 'Prateek', a former lecturer at Siraha Multiple Campus. nepalnews.com ia Sep 29 08
