NC leader regrets UN's biasness
A senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader has expressed regrets over what he calls as 'biasness' of the United Nations.
Acting president of NC Sushil Koirala said that the UN has always tilted in favour of the Maoists since the peace process began.
Speaking with journalists in Ghorahi of Dang Tuesday morning, Koirala claimed UNMIN has never spoken for rehabilitation of displaced people, returning of the properties seized by Maoists during the insurgency and effective implementation of the agreements and understanding reached with Maoists in the past.
Koirala further said UNMIN spoke only when it matters the Maoist army.
He raised objection at the induction of all Maoist combatants into Nepali Army and urged for alternatives. "Only those who can meet the NA criteria should be included in the army while others have to be inducted into Border Security Force or Industrial Security Force," he said.
Asked if his party will form any militant youth units like YCL and Youth Force, Koirala said that NC will not form any such organisation. He claimed NC's existing youth with Tarun Dal is enough to counter the unruly activities of the Young Communist League and Youth Force.
He said his party would now begin a nationwide discussion for new constitution and form of federalism in Nepal. nepalnews.com ia/sd Sep 30 08
