FNCCI to build hydro projects
The Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has said it will commence rural hydro projects in 45 hill districts with the technical assistance of Norway.
Speaking at an interaction to brief the media about his visit to Norway and Finland as a member of the Prime Minister's delegation, Kush Kumar Joshi, president of FNCCI, said, "Norwegian Development Program (NORAD) and Norwegian Development Fund (NORFund) are exhibiting willingness in micro-hydropower."
The FNCCI is planning to develop these rural hydropower projects under the public private-partnership model.
The commencement of micro-hydropower can well result in generation of 100 MW to 150 MW in two years, according to the FNCCI.
Joshi also informed that a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had also been inked between the FNCCI and the Central Chamber of Commerce of Finland (CCCF) to enhance trade between the two nations. nepalnews.com Apr 06 08
