PM Dahal says country’s media under the control of feudalists
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has again expressed his displeasure with the Nepalese media, accusing it of being under the control of “feudalists, capitalists and reactionary forces”.
Inaugurating the first anniversary of Radio Mirmire in the capital Tuesday, PM Dahal continued his blistering attack against the media, claiming that some big media houses run by smugglers are misleading the people with wrong information.
“Big investments are being made in the country’s media sector,” he said, “but the ones being run by smugglers are misleading the majority of the country’s population with wrong information.” He, however, didn’t name the media houses which, according to him, are working against the public interest, but said that those that truly work for the people should try to get rid of them.
PM Dahal, who is also the chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), said that since smugglers and capitalists are very active in the media sector, it will be very tough to win the war over the control of the country’s media. nepalnews.com Apr 07 09
