House postponed for Wednesday after UML CA members boycott the meeting
The meeting of the legislature parliament has been postponed for 3 pm
Wednesday after CA members of CPN (UML) boycotted the meeting demanding the
arrest of murderer of their cadre Prachanda Man Thaiba.
The house had started at 5.30 pm, two-and-half hours behind the scheduled
time, amid confusion on whether or not the meeting would proceed on to its
agenda.
CA members Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Yam Lal Kandel, Hridayesh Tripathi, and Agni
Sapkota, among others had spoken in the parliament before the UML leaders
walked out.
Mahat, Kandel and Tripathi condemned the Maoist-led government for
encouraging anarchy and impunity.
NC leader Mahat said the law and order situation of the country is very
grave and accused the Maoists of promoting impunity.
UML CA member Kandel said his party would obstruct the proceedings of the
house until the guilty of Prachanda Thaiba case is arrested.
Maoist CA member Agni Sapkota defended the government saying other parties
were trying to politicise every issue taking advantage of the odds the
Maoists were facing.
Earlier, the meeting had been delayed as the Maoists sought time till 4 pm
to carry out homework on the demands raised by the UML and NC.
CA members had expected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to address the
parliament Tuesday evening.
They obstructed the proceedings of the house after the PM did not turn up.
