Maoist cadres assault govt lawyer for defending murder case in Surkhet
Maoist women cadres have roughed up a government lawyer pleading for a
murder accused on the premises of Surkhet district court on Tuesday,
reports say.
Some 50 Maoist women cadres along with the petitioner's relatives
assaulted advocate Nanda Bhandari and disrupted the proceedings for two
hours from 3 pm.
They also locked the main gates of the court to prevent the defendant's
witness from entering the court to testify before the court.
Bhandari was defending Arjun Sapkota, who has been charged with killing
his wife Bhagwati at Bidhyapur in Surkhet on January 9, as a government
lawyer. nepalnews.com Apr 08 09
