Nidhi alleges UML of supporting Maoists to protect criminals
Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Bimalendra Nidhi has alleged CPN
(UML) of helping Unified CPN (Maoist) in "protecting the criminals".
Speaking at a function in the capital Tuesday, Nidhi said UML's decision
to sign a nine-point agreement with Maoists has betrayed his party and
helped Maoists to protect the criminals including the murderers of
Prachanda Thaiba in Butwal.
He said Sunday's agreement meant UML's withdrawal from the investigation
process of Butwal incident, adding NC party had cooperated with UML in
pressurising the government to arrest and punish the guilty.
UML, with support from NC, had been obstructing the regular business of
the parliament demanding punishment to those involved in Butwal incident.
On Sunday, the two parties inked the deal to end row in parliament and
jointly investigate the Butwal incident. nepalnews.com ia Apr 14 09
