UML lawmakers question role of their ministers in the govt
The CPN (UML) lawmakers have questioned the role of their party ministers
and criticised them for being ineffective and unable to deliver as per the
people's expectation.
At a meeting of the parliamentary party organised in Singha Durbar
Tuesday, CA members criticised ministers representing the party for their
inability to check intervention and act independently.
UML lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction over the government's apathy in
taking prompt action against the guilty when their cadre Prachanda Thaiba
was murdered in Butwal, despite the home ministry being led by their
party.
Likewise, they also condemned the sports minister for not being able to
check the participation of PLA in the National Games and the water
resource minister for his inability to bring effective programmes to
mitigate the ongoing load shedding.
The local development minister was criticised for his inability to
sanction in time the budget allocated for various constituencies won by
the UML.
Some CA members criticised the recent nine-point agreement signed with the
Maoists saying the UML had surrendered to the Maoists before the guilty of
the murder was arrested.
The UML ministers representing in the government tried to defend
themselves in vain.
The cabinet has a team of six ministers from UML led by deputy prime
minister and home minister Bam Dev Gautam. Bishnu Paudel is the minister
for water resources, Ram Chandra Jha is the minister for local
development, Gopal Shakya is the sports minister, Asta Laxmi Shakya is the
minister for industries and commerce and Kiran Gurung is the minister for
forest and soil conservation.
In Tuesday's meeting some CA members urged the party leadership to recall
the ministers due to their ineffective performance.

party would change shortly. nepalnews.com Apr 15 09
