'Local bodies will be formed soon'

Minister for Local Development Ram Chandra Jha has said local bodies will be formed soon by including all political parties representing in the Constituent Assembly.

Speaking to journalists in Surkhet, minister Jha said all-party councils will be formed at local levels and committees representing various political parties will be formed at the district level.

Despite repeated commitment from the local development minister, local bodies have not been formed for a long time due to a lack of consensus between the major political parties at the centre.

Lack of local bodies has affected small scale development works across the country. A large chunk of budget allocated for development in local level has not been utilised.
