Foreign business delegation to assist Nepali tourism
With an aim to assess tourism potentialities in Nepal, a 30-member
business delegation from Italy, Slovenia and Vietnam is paying visit to
Nepal from April 21-27.
According to Dibya Mani Rajbhandari, president of the European Economic
Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry (EEC)-Nepal, this step will
somewhat help the country's tourism sector ride out the reverberations of
the global financial meltdown.
The team will comprise tour operators, tourism entrepreneurs and media
persons.
The business delegation will take part in workshops, business-to-business
matchmaking activities and educational tours in and around the famous
tourist destinations of Pokhara and Kathmandu Valley.
According to reports, the programme is being implemented by EEC-Nepal
under the project European-Asian Integration in Sustainable Tourism
Management (Asian Tour) in Nepal with a special focus on tourism-related
small and medium enterprises (SMEs), intermediary business organizations
(IBOs) and local institutions. The Asian Tour project is funded by the
European Union under the Asia Invest Programme. Other project partner
countries are Italy, Slovenia, Vietnam and Mongolia.
According to EEC-Nepal, the business delegation will take part in
workshops, business-to-business matchmaking activities and educational
tours in and around the famous tourist destinations of Pokhara and
Kathmandu Valley.
More than 80 Nepalese tourism companies will be meeting the visiting
business delegation to discuss ways and means to promote mutual business
development.
The visit is also expected to provide considerable help to Nepal Tourism
