Bhim Udas announces candidacy for NRNA president
General secretary of the Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA)
International Coordination Committee Bhim Udas has announced his candidacy
for the post of president in the upcoming general convention.
In his announcement, Udas said working together NRNs have saved the
country from being a failing state as pronounced by western media in 2003. "Foreign remittances from NRNs have helped push back the frontiers of
poverty. It helped half-a million households in rural Nepal to fight
against hunger and send their children to schools. It helped improve many
people's lives," he added.
He further said, "Unity is our strength. We have demonstrated that about
2.5 million NRNs can work hand in hand to protect our interest in foreign
land and to support our motherland for its progress and economic
development."
He said NRNs built their image in Nepal with sincere commitments to work
together besides contributing to implement philanthopic/charity projects
in
different parts of the country.
Since 2001, Udas worked together with leading NRN figures in Moscow, when
they developed a concept to bring Nepalese Diaspora together to support for
economic progress of Nepal.
Earlier, NRN vice president Dev Man Hirachan also announced his candidacy
