Parliamentary sub-committee formed to probe Mid-Marshyangdi scam
A nine-member parliamentary sub-committee has been formed to investigate
into the claims of irregularities that have occurred in the
Mid-Marshyangdi Hydro-power Project.
A meeting of the Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) held Sunday
reached to a decision to this effect.
The sub-committee, to be headed by lawmaker Prakash Chandra Lohani, has
been asked to submit its findings within a month.
Today's meeting also directed the Ministry for Peace and Reconstruction to
submit the details of the expenditure incurred while rehabilitating the
people displaced during the conflict period before the committee's
meeting.
Similarly, the meeting also directed the Council of Ministers, Home
Ministery and Health Ministry to brief the committee on the distribution
of donation.
Although Minister for Water Resources Bishnu Poudel was also summonned in
today¢s meeting, he couldn't appear in it as he is currently on a foreign
trip.
The meeting also asked the heads of the four public corporations who
didn't appear in previous two meetings to appear in the next meeting.
