Indian border security chief directs security personnel to remain on high
alert
The chief of India's Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) took stock of the security
arrangement at Nepal-India border in Uttar Pradesh state of India on
Sunday and directed the security personnel to keep extra vigil, reports
said.
MV Krishna Rao, Director General of SSB, an Indian paramilitary force
deployed along Nepal-India border, reached Rupaidiha, a Uttar Pradesh town
bordering Nepal, to inspect the SSB's office and its outposts. During the
inspection he instructed the officers and the constables to observe strict
check and launch search campaign to strengthen the security arrangements
in the bordering areas, the Times of India reported.
The report didn't clarify what prompted the SSB chief to direct the
security personnel to keep extra check along the Nepal-India border.
Apart from strengthening security arrangements, SSB is responsible for
checking the smuggling of arms, narcotics and counterfeit money that take
place in the bordering areas.
The inspection visit by the top Indian border security official came on
the day when the Nepali parliamentary team, conducting field study on land
encroached upon by Indian in eastern Nepal districts, found that security
personnel of SSB has set up its camp inside Nepali territory in Pulkhol of
Pashupatinagar, in the no-man's-land area at Hile and at Guphapatal of
Ilam district.
The team of Foreign Relations and Human Rights Committee of the
Legislature-Parliament concluded at the Indian side has also encroached
land at different points in Manebhanjynag, Pulkhola, Simana, Phatak and
Chhabbise of Ilam district on various pretexts.
According to media reports, SSB personnel has also set up many of its camp
at the no-man's-land and inside Nepali territory at different points in
