By-election schedule published

The Election Commission (EC) has published the schedule for the by-election to be held in six constituencies on April 10.

During a meeting held at their office in Kantipath Friday, the commission informed the representative of the 25 political parties about the elections for six seats under direct election.

Election will be held in constituencies 5 and 7 of Morang district, 5 of Dhanusha, 1 of Kaski, 2 of Rolpa and 4 of Kanchanpur district.

The commission said nomination of the candidate need to be completed by March 14. The final list of the candidates will be published on March 19 after looking into any complaints filed against them. On the same day, the candidates will get their election symbol.

The commission has already announced to use electronic voting machines (EVM) during the by elections.

Chief Election Commissioner Bhojraj Pokhrel said voters must carry their citizenship identity cards as proof of identity during the voting process. EC said party representatives have agreed on such provision. nepalnews.com Feb 06 09
