Police seizes one tonne marijuana from Nepal-India border

Nepal Police has seized over a tonne of marijuana en route to India from Khasraha VDC of Parsa district at the Indian border of Kangali Saturday morning.

District Police Office, Parsa had deployed a team of policemen based on a tip off that a large quantity of marijuana was being smuggled to India.

They seized the contraband after smugglers abandoned the site following police firing in an attempt to arrest the latter, according to the official website of Nepal Police.

Police is in search of the smugglers and investigating further on the issue. nepalnews.com Feb 08 09
