Embattled Maoist leader Matrika Yadav on Wednesday formally announced his
plan to what he called 'reconstitute' the CPN (Maoist).
He also said he will have nothing to do with the Unified CPN (Maoist) from
now on as he has left the party, a decision he took following differences
over CPN (Maoist) forging unity with Unity Center (Masal) recently.
Speaking at a packed press conference at the Nepal Bar Association hall,
Kathmandu, Yadav said he is "reconstituting" the CPN (Maoist) as the
Maoist leadership has forgotten its revolutionary ideals. He also said
that that anyone wishing to join the new party is welcome in it.
Although there was remarkable presence of Maoist activists in the hall,
none of the promonent Maoist leaders attended Yadav's press conference.
Yadav also announced that he will tender his resignation as the
Constitution Assembly member before the CA chairman Subas Chandra Nemwang
today itself.
Accusing the Unified CPN (Maoist) of being revolutionary in words but not
in deeds, the firebrand Madhesi leader said the new party will opt for a
"revolutionary path" to solve the problems facing the country.
Asked by journalists present at the hall whether he will also wage a
'people's war' to ensure the success of his 'revolution', Yadav said that
will entirely depend on the activities of the government.
The former land reform minister, who resigned from his post following
major differences with party leadership including his unruly behavior in
recapturing land in Siraha district, expressed hope that revolutionary
leaders and activists from the Unified CPN (Maoist) will help him in his
effort to 'reconstitute' the party.
The announcement of a separate CPN (Maoist) by a senior Maoist leader has
come at a time when the Unified CPN (Maoist) on the eve of the 14th
anniversary of People's War the Maoists fought against the state.
On Tuesday, Yadav had said that Maoists have been unable to stop rampant
corruption that exists in the country. He also said the party, which was
the most democratic one before, was now so in name only, but not in
practice and expressed dissatisfaction over the Maoist leadership's
negligence of the Madhesh issues.
On Jan 30, Unified CPN (Maoist) had started a "nationwide discussion" to
formulate a party policy on "Madhesh issue". nepalnews.com ag Feb 11 09
