Pradip Nepal announces candidacy for UML Gen Secy
Standing committee member of CPN (UML) Pradip Nepal has announced his candidacy for the post of General Secretary in the party's general convention in Butwal from February 16 to 21.
"I have officially announced my candidacy for Gen Secy today," Nepal told Annapurna Post daily on Wednesday. Showing his support for youth leaders, Nepal said he would withdraw if a leader junior to him stands for the post with concrete agendas, but would not give up for any senior leaders.
Meanwhile, the central committee meeting of the UML -which was expected make some nominations for the general convention-ended without taking any decisions due to a row over fraction committees.
There is a provision of nominating one representative each from a fraction committee- which is formed by the central committee to oversee various sister organisations- for the general convention.
According to party sources, the dispute begun when 58 Fraction committees were presented in the meeting as opposed to existing 54 committees.
The members sought minutes of the decisions to form the four additional committees. The meeting was postponed for Friday after this issue could not be resolved. nepalnews.com ta Feb 12 09
