Maoists intensify works on constitution-making process
A meeting of the constitution drafting suggestion committee of the Unified
CPN (Maoist) has divided responsibilities of the leaders to work on
specific subjects to be included in the constitution.
The meeting held at Singh Durbar Monday formed 11 sub-committees
specifying their responsibilities to suggest the party on various aspects
of the constitution. The leaders are asked to submit their suggestions
within a week.
C. P. Gajurel leads the sub-committee on fundamental rights, Bishwo Bhakta
Dulal on welfare of minority groups, Ram Rijan Yadav on state
restructuring, Lila Mani Pokhrel on structure of administrative bodies and
Pumpha Bhusal on structure for governance.
Similarly, Prabhu Shah leads the sub-committee on judicial system, Netra
Bikram Chand and Chandeshwor Shrestha on structure of the constitutional
bodies, Amrita Thapa on natural resource management, Barsha Man Pun and
Kumari Yonjon on maintaining social harmony and unity, Amik Sherchan on
safeguarding the national interests and Khim Lal Devkota on constitutional
committee that will into remaining issues.
A comprehensive report comprising the suggestions from all sub-committees
will be submitted to the party's constitution drafting suggestion
committee during its next meeting slated for Monday.
The constituent assembly had also formed similar thematic committee to
