PM Dahal urges communist unity
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal took the opportunity of the 8th general convention of the CPN (UML) in Butwal to recall for communist unity in Nepal, which he said he has been dreaming since his party came into the mainstream politics.
"We are different in colours but we are from the same caste," PM Dahal said hinting the need for closer cooperation between Unified CPN (Maoist) and the UML, adding a vision of new Nepal would remain a daydream unless communists come together. "Communists in Nepal are champions in putting each other down due to lack spirit of unity and consensus," he further said.
Amidst increasing criticism against the unruly activities of the Maoist cadres, PM Dahal reiterated that his party would take necessary steps to control such behaviours.
Claiming that some elements are playing to deteriorate relation between the two parties, Dahal, who is also the chairman of United CPN (Maoist), called on working unity among the forces who worked in the last few years to end the Shah dynasty.
Reacting to the call from Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala for politics of consensus, he said the spirit ended when Nepali Congress changed its position to work on politics of majority from politics of consensus. However, he reiterated commitments for consensus among the political forces to write new constitution for the country. nepalnews.com ia Feb 16 09
