Maoists to start campaigning for by-elections
Unified CPN (Maoist) has directed its party members to intensify campaign for the upcoming by-elections slated for April 10.
The central secretariat meeting of the party held in Kathmandu Thursday morning has asked all its sister organisations to speed up the election campaign in six constituencies in five districts.
The party cadres are directed to support people who are included in the electoral list but dot not have citizenship in hand to get citizenship from the local authorities at the earliest possible.
Election Commission has made it mandatory for showing citizenship card during the voting process.
Maoists has become the second party, after Madhesi Janadhikar Forum, to activate its members for upcoming elections.
Similarly, the party decided to hold its earlier decision to rename its youth wing as Young Communist Democratic League (YCDL), which invited criticism from opposition parties saying that change in behaviour but not change in name is what the youth wing needed. nepalnews.com ia Feb 19 08
