The top three leaders who have indirectly announced their candidature for the top job of the CPN (UML) have finally sat for discussion outside the ongoing convention venue Thursday afternoon.
In the initiation of CA chair Subas Nemwang, Bharat Mohan Adhikari and Amrit Kumar Bohara, the top three contenders Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Oli are currently in a surreptitious discussion at Hotel New Era.
Progress of the discussion has not been disclosed formally but efforts are underway to reach a consensus on new leadership. The facilitators are learnt to have proposed Nepal as the Chairman of the party, KP Oli and Bam Dev Gautam as Vice Chairmen and Khanal as General Secretary.
Nepal has expressed unwillingness to contest for chairmanship if consensus was not reached. Briefly talking to journalists this morning before the meeting, Oli said party needs a leadership with vision that suits party's political ideology and policies.
