No respite from load shedding
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has said it will not be able to reduce the load shedding hours by half from February end as projected earlier.
NEA's helplessness is attributed to a long dry spell and closure of Bhotekoshi power house. Although it had expected an increased production from various power houses, the situation has been on the contrary as there has been no rainfall since a long time. Likewise, the production at Bhotekoshi-closed due to technical reasons-has not resumed.
The government has started to import 60 MW power from India after repair work of transmission towers damaged by Koshi floods was completed. This will help reduce the load shedding hours, but only marginally. nepalnews.com Feb 20 09
