UML GC endorses statute with multi-post leadership
The general convention (GC) of the CPN (UML) has endorsed the political
paper tabled by
erstwhile general secretary Jhala Nath Khanal and the statute
ammendment proposal tabled by Amrit Kumar Bohara, on Saturday.
The endorsed statute has a provision for a chairman, three vice-chairmen,
a general secretary, three secretaries and more than a hundred central
committee members. With this, the UML has entered a multi-post
leadership for the first time in its history.
The closed door session which prolonged post midnight on Friday endorsed the
papers at around 1 am on Saturday.
After completion of the discussion on the papers, the election process
will begin
today. Khanal and KP Oli are likely to compete
for chairman as they could not reach a consensus, despite repeated
