Maoists to propose presidential system
The Unified CPN (Maoists) has proposed for a federal presidential system to be incorporated in the new constitution.
The draft submitted on Monday by the sub-committees formed by the party to prepare the party’s proposal for the new constitution states the provision of an executive president to be elected directly by the people. The president can form the government from within or outside the parliament.
The draft will be finalised today and tabled at party secretariat for approval tomorrow.
The party has also proposed for a proportional representation in the legislative, Barsha Man Pun told Nepalnews.
There will be a three-tier system - federal, state and local - of executive, legislative and judiciary.
The party is yet to decide on whether to have a power sharing system with a prime minister, informed Pun. nepalnews.com ta Feb 24 09
