PM Dahal suspects ex-King Gyanendra's India trip has political purpose
Prime Minister and Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Saturday said former
King Gyanendra's ongoing India visit might have political purpose.
"I hear Gyanendra has gone to India not just to attend wedding reception,"
he said addressing a function organised in the capital to declare the
unification between the media wings of then CPN (Maoist) and Unity Centre
(Masal) which recently merged to become the Unified CPN (Maoist).
"There are activities going on I've heard," he added, but didn't clarify
on what he called the "political activities" the ousted King might be
engaging in.
In his first foreign visit after the declaration of republic in Nepal,
ex-King Gyanendra had left for New Delhi to attend a wedding reception of
a relative in Bhopal, India. It is unclear how many days he will stay in
India or if he will meet any political Indian leader.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dahal has expressed discontent with the way the
mainstream media has been reporting matters related to him his party.
"I have been working for the country from 5 in the morning till 8 in the
evening, but still the media, especially those with big circulation, are
only writing negative things about me," he said speaking at the
unification programme of the two media wings.
Furthermore, blaming the press for not depicting the republic and
federalism in positive light, Dahal said the press should be careful not
to harm the 'infant republic'. nepalnews.com Feb 28 09
