Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattrai has underlined the need to widen the area of cooperatives in the country for economic change.
Speaking at the annual meet of the National Cooperatives Bank in the capital Sunday, Bhattarai said poverty alleviation in rural Nepal is possible through expansion of cooperatives sector.
Stressing the need for economic revolution as political revolution completes, Bhattarai said cooperatives could bring about socio-economic development to build new Nepal. For this, the cooperative movement and the private sector entrepreneurship should go hand in hand, he added.
He also informed that the government is preparing to form a high-level cooperative board under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pushpa amal Dahal, and expressed commitments to support enhance and expand the cooperatives sector in future. nepalnews.com ia Jan 04 08
