Hotels, restaurants restart operation in Pokhara
Restaurants and hotels in Pokhara resumed their services on Saturday after a closure of three days. Hoteliers and restaurateurs were forced to close down their shop owing to the indefinite strike called by the CPN (Maoist) affiliated All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Union.
The onset of strike had come as a great trouble to many tourists in Pokhara whereas those scheduled to visit the town were also cancelling their bookings.
According to the agitating union, the strike was called off to create a amenable atmosphere for talks.
The union had announced the protest on Wednesday to exert pressure on the related entrepreneurs to pay the monthly salary of Rs 4,600, fixed by the government, to each worker. nepalnews.com Jan 11 09
