No final verdict yet on Sobhraj case

Nihita Bishwas (R), who was controversially married to jailed international serial killer Charles Sobhraj (nicknamed 'The Serpent') few months back, returns from the Supreme Court after a ruling on his case, on Tuesday, Jan 13 09. The SC bench stated that final verdict would be announced only after the Appellate Court's decision on the fake passport case. nepalnews.com/rh

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday deferred its verdict on the protracted case of notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj.

A division bench of justices Kalyan Shrestha and Min Bahadur Rayamajhi ruled that the apex court would announce its verdict on Sobhraj's case only after the appellate court decides on the fake passport case involving him.

Sobhraj, who is also known as "the serpent" and "the Bikini killer" due to his exploits involving sex, drugs and violence, is serving time in Kathmandu Central Jail since his arrest in Kathmandu back in 2003.

The Kathmandu District Court had slapped him with life sentence for murdering an American backpacker in the 70s. nepalnews.com Jan 13 09
