Five-party taskforce to decide on local bodies

The council of ministers has decided to entrust the five-party team to finalise the seat share in the local government. The team will include members from five big parties.

Several rounds of talks among big parties and 25 parties in the constituent assembly had failed to find an amicable solution though the government had announced to form the local bodies within mid January.

The meeting of the council of ministers held Thursday evening also discussed on law for formation of investment board under the chairmanship of Prime Minister that will be the national monitoring agency on business investment across the country.

The cabinet decided to take initiative for construction of petroleum pipeline from Raxaul in India to Amlekhgunj in Nepal for easy delivery of petroleum products.

Similarly, the controversial Indian movie Chadni Chowk to China will be given permission for screening only after scissoring the scene where it mentions that Gautam Buddha was born in India. The Foreign Ministry was given responsibility to take diplomatic efforts with India for chopping off the scene.

Additionally, government henceforth will provide support for housing, fuel and other necessary support to former prime minister and Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala. nepalnews.com ia Jan 22 09
