ADB mission in Kathmandu to discuss hydro projects
A special team of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is in Kathmandu to discuss investments in hydro-power with officials of the Ministry of Water Resources (MoWR).
According to Shankar Prasad Koirala, secretary of MoWR, talks were held in detail about the investments in West Seti with a capacity of 750 MW, Gorkhapatra daily reported.
ADB is investing in project in collaboration with Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation (SMEC), the promoter of the project which had taken hydro-power production license 14 years ago. ADB has pledged to invest 15% from its side and lend 15 % as loan to Nepalese government for investment in the project. The estimated cost of the project is USD1.6 billion. nepalnews.com ta Jan 26 09
