VDIS will achieve its set target: IRD
Director of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Bishnu Nepal has on Wednesday said that the government is fully confident about collecting Rs 1 billion in revenue through the Voluntary Declaration of Income Scheme (VDIS) by February 11.
While speaking at an interaction programme held in the capital, Nepal also informed that the total amount of collected so far under the scheme stands at Rs 11 million, which is 1.1 percent of the target.
Speaking at the same programme, Director General of the IRD Kapil Dev Ghimire said that the VDIS is applicable for those who have not paid tax on their incomes.
Ghimire also divulged that the IRD has so far identified more than Rs 10,000 prospective tax payers.
President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Surendra Bir Malakar, however, expressed dissatisfaction over practical aspects of the VDIS.
He also made it a point to argue that the government is not serious towards addressing the legitimate concerns of private sector. nepalnews.com Jan 29 09
