Govt makes political appointments

A cabinet meeting Wednesday has made a number of political appointments in government agencies.

According to Minister for Information and Communication Shankar Pokharel, journalist Kundan Aryal has been appointed as the executive chairman of Nepal Television, Bal Krishna Chapagain as the chairman of Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Anil Giri as chairman of Film Development Board and Narayan Prasad Acharya as the administrator of Guthi Sansthan.

Likewise, the cabinet approved a proposal made in the previous meeting to appoint Bijaya Chalise and Shambhu Shrestha as the chairman and general manager of Gorkhapatra Corporation respectively.

The cabinet meeting also has decided to develop a new landfill site at Banchare Danda, Nuwakot district, to manage the solid waste of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Waster management of the KMC had been halted several times in the past due to protests of the locals of Sidol landfill site in Okharpauwa of the same district. nepalnews.com July 01 09
