Parliament to resume from Sunday

The opposition Unified CPN (Maoist), after the consecutive meeting of its central secretariat and with the smaller parties Friday morning agreed to allow resuming parliament business from Sunday onwards.

Senior leader of the party Dr Baburam Bhattarai told reporters after the meeting with smaller parties that they reached a conclusion for resumption of parliament session only to let the government table the credit bill for next fiscal year.

He however said the party will not allow resumption of regular business until Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal addresses the parliament incorporating their demand regarding the president’s step to reinstate army chief.

Another Maoist leader Mohan Baidhya said they are committed with the agreement reached with CPN (UML) leaders during the Godavari meeting but alleged that other parties have been the obstacles towards ending House deadlock.

He further said they advocated for a national consensus government concluding that the current coalition government is incapable of solving the present crisis and completing the constitution writing task within the timeframe.

In the meantime, the parliament secretariat has, through a notice, informed the postponement of the parliament session scheduled for today. nepalnews.com ia July 03 09
