NEPSE regains composure slightly
Afflicted with a bearish run from the past few weeks, the capital market regained its composure a little bit last week as its index gained 5.56 points on Thursday, the last day of stock trading, to close at 667.43 points.
The surge brought some relief to the investors as the capital market was unstable for the first four days of the week starting Sunday. With the relative good performance of Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index increased by 1.08 points compared to the first day of the week.
In yet another positive indication, the total turnover at NEPSE was up by 103.88 percent. The previous week , the total turnover of the NEPSe was Rs 462.61 million with transaction of 1.96 million units of shares.
Development bank performed well last week, posting a gain of 2.57 points. Banking sub-indices also increased by 1.66 points.
However, it was the hydro sector which was the biggest gainer last week with its sub-indices posting a gain of 6.91 points.
Similarly, finance and insurance groups were among the major losers last week. The lost 2.07 and 2.02 points respectively. nepalnews.com
