House meeting put off as consensus eludes parties

The regular session of the legislature-parliament which was expected to resume Sunday after two months of obstruction was postponed till Monday afternoon as the main parties failed to arrive at an agreement on ending the deadlock.

The House sitting was put off through a notice.

The Unified CPN (Maoist) had agreed to resume normal proceedings of the parliament from today so the government could present the 'advance budget'.

A meeting between the UML and the Maoist leadership to break the deadlock was inconclusive, but leaders said they were expecting a solution very soon.

The Maoists have said they would not allow the government to present a full-fledged budget along with the programmes and policies unless the ruling coalition agreed to rectify the 'unconstitutional move' of the President reinstating the army chief sacked by the erstwhile government. nepalnews.com
