Call for declaration of drought-hit area

Farmers in Banke district have called on the government for declaring the district as drought-affected zone after they were unable to plant rice even during the first week of July due to lack of rainfall, national news agency RSS reported Tuesday.

The farmers, who otherwise would have finished planting paddy by the end of June, are worried over the lack of sufficient rainfall this year.

They have not been able to plant paddy until the first week of July for lack of precipitation. Nepalnews.com
