Committee formed to probe Tri-chandra incident

The government has formed a three member committee to probe Sunday’s incident at Tri Chandra College, Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The committee led by deputy Attorney General Durga Bandu Pokhrel includes Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya and deputy-director general of National Investigation Department Nava Raj Thapa.

The committee has been assigned to find the facts about the incident and report to the government within seven days.

On Sunday cadres of Nepali Congress affiliated Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) and UML affiliated All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) had clashed over a row on tender of construction of a building at the campus. NSU has accused ANNFSU cadres of opening fire at their cadres. ANNFSU has denied involvement of its cadres.

Earlier, NSU had filed a writ petition at the Kathmandu District Court on Monday against six people charging them of being involved in the incident.

On Tuesday, NSU submitted a memorandum to the home minister urging the latter to take action against those involved in the incident.

ANNFSU has also formed a three-member probe committee to find the truth of the incident. nepalnews.com
