NRN Australia to present paper on ‘Knowledge Investment Forum’
The annual conference of the NRN Australia has decided to present a paper on ‘Knowledge Investment Forum’ at the fourth NRN Global Conference scheduled to take place in Kathmandu in October this year.
According to a press release issued by the NRN Australia, the decision was
taken at its conference held in Melbourne last Saturday. The conference,
with the theme "My Heritage, My Pride," was attended by large numbers of
enthusiastic participants from all states and was highly successful in
meeting the conference objectives.
Firstly, the Executive Body was elected unanimously and Dhurba Subedi from
Sydney was elected as the President for the next two years term 2009-2011.
The newly elected team took the oath read by Dev Man Hirachan, NRN ICC
Vice-President who had come from Japan to attend the conference.
Addressing the conference, Hirachan highlighted the role of NRN Australia
in shaping the NRN future and hoped that the Australian team would
continue to play a proactive global role in the future. Dhurba Subedi
reciprocated saying that NRN Australia will be more visible globally by
taking innovative ideas to ICC and help NRN movement achieve its
objectives.
The conference started with the formal inauguration by Nepali ambassador
to Australia, Yogendra Dhakal, NRN ICC Vice-President Dev Man Hirachan and
Chandra Yonjon, Consular, Melbourne followed by the Conference Workshop on
NRN related theme topics 1) NRN Investment in Nepal; Recent Experiences
and Trends 2) NRN Knowledge Investment Forum- NRN New Platform 3) NRN Role
in Civic Society and Heritage and 4) Youth Challenges and NRN Skill
Directory.
According to Dr Raju Adhikari, advisor to the NRN Australia and member,
NRN ICC, the conference decided to present the concept proposal on "NRN
Knowledge Investment Forum- NRN New Platform" at the NRN Conference in
Kathmandu in October, 2009 for approval by the NRN ICC. The conference
also decided, among others, to continue to advocate for more reforms in
Nepal's business sector and regulations for increased NRN investment in
Nepal.
Following the workshop, NRN AGM was conducted by the past president Goba
Katuwal to discuss recent amendments in NRN Australia constitution and was
approved unanimously.
Amidst the function, the NRN Australia awards were given away to various
personalities in recognition of their outstanding services to the
community under various categories such as Education, Community Service,
Friend of Nepal, Cultural Ambassador etc. More than 200 people attended
the conference from morning until mid night when the program finally
concluded.
The new executive committee unanimously elected under the chairmanship of
Dhurba Subedi, an environmental consultant, includes Keshab Prasad Sapkota
and Bhuma Limbu as vice presidents, Bishnu Hamal as Secretary, Mahendra
Oli as Joint Secretary and Shyam KC as treasurer. Similarly, Gopi Krishna
Subedi, Sunita Limbu Kharel, Homnath Pandey, Shisir Nepal, Surendra
Sigdel, Bhisma Bhandari, Keshav Kandel, Prakash GC and Prajwol Bhattarai
