UCPN (Maoist) to unify with another fringe communist party
The CPN (ML Revolutionary), a faction of CPN (ML) split has agreed to merge itself with the UCPN (Maoist), the biggest communist party of the country.
This is part of the mission unveiled by the Maoist leadership for communist unity in the country. Few other smaller parties have already merged with them.
Maoist leaders Mohan Baidya, Dinanath Sharma and Barsa Man Pun, entrusted to hold talks with fringe communist parties for unification, held discussion at Buddha Nagar with the leaders of CPN (ML Revolutionary) Tuesday agreeing for unification. The unification will be formally announced next week.
A four-member taskforce, including Sharma and Pun from the Maoists and Keshab Raj Nepal and Padam Bhandari from the fringe group, has been formed for the preparation and work division after the unification, Maoist spokesperson Dinanath Sharma told the media.
Maoists have also been lobbying for unification with CPN (Unified) but talks have not ended positively. nepalnews.com June 02 09
