NEPSE makes slight recovery
After weeks of dismal performance, the capital market regained its
composure a little bit with its index registering a marginal growth of
4.97 points on Thursday, the last day of stock trading, against the
opening on Sunday.
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index reached 683.71 points on Thursday
from last Sunday's opening of 678.74.
Trade analyst attributed last week's growth to the satisfactory
performance of groups like banking, trading and hydropower, among others.
With a double digit growth of 22.71 points, the hydropower group was the
top gainer last week followed by trading and commercial bank group.
Development banks, finance and insurance companies were the major losers
last week.
A total of 516,700 shares worth Rs. 239.7 million was traded in 4,131
