NC to take additional initiative on constitution writing
The central working committee meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress held
Monday morning decided to take 'extra initiation' for writing the new
constitution on schedule.
The party has taken the decision at a time when the rift between the
ruling and the opposition parties has grown and the committees in the
Constituent Assembly have failed to meet the deadline to prepare drafts.
The party's first CWC meeting since the election of parliamentary party
leader Saturday also discussed about holding the party's 12th general
convention and the possible changes in the party statute. In the meeting,
chief of the statute preparation committee Uma Adhikari informed about the
progress made in this regard.
The party had earlier planned to hold its general convention by this
August. However, lack of preparation is likely to delay the convention.
Most of the CWC members who spoke during the meeting were in favour of
organising the convention at the earliest to keep the party unity intact
and settle internal disputes that exist even after party unification. nepalnews.com ia June 22 09
