Badri remains on top in chess championship
Badri Lal Nepali continued to hold on to his comfortable lead at the
completion of the seventh round of the Third Madan Memorial National Youth
Rating Chess Championship.
Nepali is enjoying a sole lead with six points (26 progressive points).
Nepali maintained his winning streak on Tuesday with a win over Shyam
Shrestha but later on tied with him in the seventh round.
Nepali, with black dice, employed Sicilian tactics to keep Shrestha, using
a white dice, under constant pressure.
Shrestha gave an opening to Nepali when he finally lost his pawn in the
35th move. Nepali took the advantage and forced Shrestha to give up in the
48th move.
Similarly, Sujendra Prasad Shrestha has also maintained his unbeaten run
in the championship, but is behind Nepali with 25 and a half progressive
points.
Shrestha began the day with a draw in his first game against Niraj Niraula,
but lost his second to Ganesh Man Duwal.
Meanwhile, Rajan Chettri ended the day with a third position with 23
progressive points.
He played remarkably and won both his games on Tuesday.
Ratna Byanjankar, Nirja Niraula, Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Ravindra
