Democracy and human rights govt's top priority: PM Nepal
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the government will give
top priority to democracy and human rights while going about the task of
fulfilling the people's aspirations.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a regional high-level meeting on
Rainwater Harvesting in Kathmandu Sunday, PM Nepal also expressed
commitment to address all suggestions as well as complaints of the people
as far as possible.
He also reiterated that the government is serious on to the task of
preparing the constitution by the stipulated time and take the peace
process to its logical conclusion.
"Similarly, the government is also committed to establish the rule of
law," he said.
Stating that Nepal is ready to cooperate with its neighbors to properly
utilize the Himalayan nation's rich natural resources, the prime minister
said that this will also work to bolster its relations with them.
He said though there is a great shortage of clean drinking water in the
country, the target of the previous governments to make water accessible
to all the people of the country by 2017 is very challenging.
But he said he has taken the current difficult situation of the country as
an opportunity and expressed commitment to bring about "economic miracle"
in the country.
About 150 experts, water technicians and representatives from all over
South Asia are participating in the 3-day regional high-level meeting on
